You just need to remove the top, metal cover. Since it plays every blue moon, I'm guess the lens could be dirty (the car is used and there is no telling what's been stuck in there). Anyone encounter this error message and can I do something on my own to fix it? Even running a cd lens cleaner didn't seem to solve anything. The blue line/arrow piece moves toward the front when a cd is inserted. -- With the cd out, it is time to put the faceplate back on. -- GO SLOWLY - I put three or four different ones in a row, both retail and burned ones, and they all get ejected with the error message. The time now is 05:53 AM. I'm at a lose... They have to remove them and send them back to the manufacturer for repair, for +/- $350. And it appears they use a refurbished unit, not a brand new one.

For the wire cluster (left side), I removed the blue connector first and then lifted the little handle for the black wire cage to remove the white and black connectors and
